Afternoon Half Day Camp Hale Snowmobile Tour
Description
Due to limited early snowfall, our winter operations will officially begin on January 9th. We can't wait to see you on the trails! ❄️
If you’d rather sleep in and still get plenty of mountain time, this afternoon snowmobile tour is a great choice. You’ll start at Camp Hale, where your guide gets you set up with a top-of-the-line snowmobile, a snug helmet, and a quick safety rundown before heading into the trails. The machines are designed for comfort, with heated handle grips to keep your hands warm, ensuring a secure and cozy ride.
Once you’re out on the snow, you’ll follow groomed trails that wind through open meadows and pine-covered hillsides. The ride climbs all the way up to about 12,500 feet, where you can stop to take in breathtaking, 360-degree mountain views. On a clear day, you can spot four different mountain ranges, including the awe-inspiring Continental Divide.
There are plenty of great photo stops along the way. At Machine Gun Ridge, you’ll get sweeping views of the Gore and Sawatch Ranges, and your guide will share intriguing stories about the soldiers who trained in this area during World War II. Then it’s up toward Resolution Mountain and Ptarmigan Pass, where the snow stretches out untouched and the air feels fresh and still.
The pace is relaxed but exciting—enough speed to feel the power of the snowmobile, with plenty of time to enjoy the scenery. Whether you’re new to snowmobiling or already know your way around the trails, this trip is designed to accommodate all levels of experience, giving you a real sense of Colorado’s high country. It’s a few hours of mountain riding, great views, and fresh air that’s hard to beat.
