Description
You’ll start your morning surrounded by crisp mountain air and quiet alpine views. This 2-hour guided Side-by-Side tour takes you through Camp Hale, about 15 miles from Vail, and it’s one of the best ways to see Colorado’s high country up close. No experience needed — your guide will walk you through everything before you start, ensuring your safety throughout the journey. Once you’re comfortable with the controls, you’ll head out onto wide trails that climb through open meadows and pine forests.
The ride is exciting but not extreme. You’ll cover real backcountry terrain at a steady pace, stopping often to take in the views or snap a few photos. The trails wind through an area rich in history — this is where the 10th Mountain Division trained during World War II — and your guide, a knowledgeable and experienced outdoor enthusiast, will share a few stories about the soldiers who once skied and hiked these same slopes.
As you climb higher, the scenery opens up. You’ll see four different mountain ranges from the trail, and on clear days, you can spot Mount Elbert and Mount Massive, the two tallest peaks in Colorado. The view is simply breathtaking, the kind that makes you stop and breathe it all in, feeling the awe of nature's grandeur.
When the ride wraps up, you’ll head back to the lodge for a made-to-order lunch. You can sit inside or out on the deck, surrounded by mountain peaks and open sky. It’s a relaxed, satisfying way to end a morning on the trail — a mix of fresh air, good food, and that content, happy-tired feeling that only comes from time spent outdoors. The lodge's comfort and relaxation will leave you feeling pampered and rejuvenated.
