Description

In just eight hours, you'll spend a whole day out on the rivers around Vail, wading through clear mountain water and learning the basics of fly fishing at a leisurely, relaxed pace. The setting is quiet, the air is cool, and your guide is right there to help you get comfortable with each cast. It's a simple, hands-on day outside with plenty of room to explore.

The trip starts at a convenient meeting spot in the Vail or Avon area. From there, you follow your guide to a stretch of river they know well. Once you step into the water, you'll feel the current around your boots and start practicing your cast. If you're new to fly fishing, your guide walks you through it one step at a time, offering you the chance to learn and improve. If you've fished before, they help you fine-tune things and find good water to work, allowing you to enhance your skills.

You'll move along the riverbank and into different pockets of water, trying out spots where trout usually feed. Some sections are shallow and easy to wade through, while others offer deeper runs where you can slow down and take your time. The pace is relaxed, and there's no rush to cover long distances. You'll have plenty of chances to stop, adjust your setup, and try again.

Around midday, you'll break for a simple included lunch right by the water. It's a nice chance to sit down, warm up, and talk about what's working. After lunch, you'll head to a second stretch of river to keep fishing and enjoy the quieter afternoon light.

By the day's end, you'll return with not just tired legs, but also a newfound skill set and a deep understanding of what a full day on a Colorado river truly entails. This trip is not just about catching fish, but also about learning and appreciating the art of fly fishing.
