Description
Embarking on an ATV ride this morning is a thrilling way to explore Colorado’s backcountry. We’ll commence with a brief safety briefing and a few minutes to acquaint yourself with the ATVs before we set off. No prior experience is necessary, as your guide will be by your side every step of the way.
The ride takes you through Camp Hale, a broad, open valley surrounded by tall peaks. This area has a rich history — it’s where the 10th Mountain Division trained during World War II — and you can still spot bits of the old camp as we go, connecting you to the past. The terrain is a mix of open meadows and gentle forest trails, so it’s exciting but not too technical.
As we ascend, the landscape unfolds before your eyes. On a clear day, you can feast your eyes on four distinct mountain ranges and even the Continental Divide. We’ll make several stops along the way to capture these awe-inspiring views in photos and to soak in the beauty. The air up here is crisp and invigorating, offering a refreshing escape from the bustling towns below.
The ATVs are new and easy to handle. Drivers must be 16 or older with a valid license, and passengers can join from age 5. Families and first-timers are not just welcome, they are an integral part of our adventure.
After about two hours on the trail, we’ll wrap up back at base with a casual lunch. It’s a relaxed, friendly morning outdoors — just a chance to enjoy good company, open trails, and some of the best mountain scenery around.
