Description

If you’re looking for a unique and fun way to see Colorado’s high country, this midday ATV ride is a great choice. It’s just a short drive from Vail, and in about two hours you’ll get an authentic taste of the backcountry—open trails, mountain air, and wide-open views in every direction.

Our journey begins with a quick safety talk and a few minutes of hands-on instruction to ensure everyone feels at ease. You’ll be provided with a helmet, hop on your ATV, and learn how to handle the throttle and brakes. It’s a breeze once you get the hang of it. Even if you’ve never ridden before, you’ll be good to go in no time.

Once we’re on the trail, the breathtaking scenery unfolds rapidly. You’ll ride across the old Camp Hale valley, surrounded by towering peaks and forested ridges. On clear days, you can spot Mount Elbert and Mount Massive—the two tallest mountains in Colorado. There are plenty of opportunities to pause, snap a few photos, and soak it all in.

Your guide, a seasoned professional with extensive knowledge of the area, will point out landmarks and share a bit of local history, including the 10th Mountain Division's training here during World War II. The ride alternates between gentle sections and a few fun climbs and turns, keeping it exciting without ever being overwhelming.

As you circle back, you’ll be a little dusty, probably smiling, and definitely feeling a sense of accomplishment. It’s a straightforward, active way to explore Colorado’s backcountry without needing a full day or any exceptional experience—bring your sense of adventure.
