Description
Experience an exciting day navigating gentle rapids, scenic pools, and expansive views along the Upper Colorado River, with a supportive guide team and hands-on paddling in your own inflatable kayak.
This full-day inflatable kayak trip starts at the base area in Rancho Del Rio, where you get fitted with the gear you need and receive a simple overview of what the day will look like. After a short shuttle ride, you’ll reach the put-in and launch into a calm current. Our experienced guides stay nearby to support you, ensuring you feel secure while learning to navigate the river's mild Class I–II features.
As you move downstream, you’ll switch between short stretches of light rapids and long, relaxed sections where you can look around and enjoy the scenery. You may pass open ranchlands, small canyon walls, and quiet areas where it’s common to spot birds of prey or deer near the shore. These scenic stops and wildlife sightings create a sense of wonder and discovery, enriching your outdoor experience.
When conditions allow, the group may stop at a natural warm spring or explore the remains of old settler structures. A riverside lunch gives you a break to rest, eat, and take in the surroundings before getting back on the water. Guides stay nearby to help with technique, point out interesting features, and keep the group moving safely.
The day ends at the take-out point, where the return shuttle brings you back to the boathouse. It’s a simple, relaxed way to spend a whole day outside while learning the basics of river paddling in a comfortable environment.
